Splinter Cell Conviction is literally a rage game!!
Sam Fisher or the "panther" is back and he's not in a good mood. Splinter Cell Conviction follows the story of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Don't worry if you haven't played the game you'll get caught up quickly. Sam is angry and you can feel it in the grunt of his voice and the brutality of the interrogations and the gameplay itself. Older installations were focused more on "Avoiding the enemy" while this game is all about brutal and creative takedowns.
The flow of the game feels smooth as it never makes you sit and wait for things to transpire, Ubisoft had a few maneuvers to pull this off.
There is no in-game loading screen unless you die or reload. From the beginning till the end it feels like a single-shot game. Levels are loaded while cutscenes, objectives are projected onto the environment, and the back story is played on walls, these things keep the player immersed in the game, pushing them constantly to unfold the story.
The story of the game is very fast-paced, there is not a single moment to catch a breath, you're always being pushed to test your stealth, speed, and strategy.
Splinter Cell Conviction is not only about stealth but also speed and efficiency, the gameplay is largely based on the cover system which is the best to date. The enemy AI is exceptional, it will give you a really hard time and make you plan your moves more strategically.
In this game, Ubisoft made it much easier for the player to determine their level of stealth, when you are hidden the colors change to black and white when you are visible they come back to normal.
There is a variety of weapons and gadgets that you can use as per your play style, you can mark multiple enemies and take them out all at once although the "mark and execute" system could have been better as sometimes after the execution sequence starts your bullet will defy the laws of physics and kill people through walls
But, the game has its fair share of backlashes like, occasional game-breaking glitches (3 in my experience) and there is a flashback sequence completely changing the tone of Splinter Cell to Call of Duty.
Conclusion:
The game is great, it delivers the perfect blend of stealth, tension, and emotions. Although the story is short (only 4 hrs) but it gives Sam a sense of closure. The gameplay mechanics are phenomenal and constantly challenge you to think and move fast.
