L.A. Noire is an unsung piece of art

L.A Noire is a detective crime thriller set in the Los Angeles of 1940s where you play as Detective Cole Phelps.
There are street crimes, car chases, gun fights but an abundance of gameplay consists of interrogations and searching of clues. This game will give you a wonderful array of crimes, witnesses, interactions and drawing conclusion. Your goal is to successfully solve these cases in order to get promoted.

L.A Noire also revolutionized facial expressions through Motion Scan, this helps you read every expression of the witness or the suspect and figure out if they are lying or telling the truth. The actors also did a phenomenal job at expressing the emotions through expressions. But this game also has its own downfall in terms of open world and story telling.

The open world feels really empty
and lifeless, I would say it's really a waste to detail the world in such a beautiful manner and the player is not being motivated to discover it. I love exploring a game's world but L.A Noire didn't give me enough to go on and explore the map.
In terms of unlockables there are only some hidden cars which you would drive once or twice as they disappear after cutscenes. You will be forced to play the story missions because of the empty open world and the gameplay gets really repetative and boring during the 'Traffic' and 'Homocide' segments. I stopped playing the game at one point and restarted it just to get surprised by the nerve-racking last segment of the game.
The story telling however is really confusing with unexpected flash back cutscenes where Cole Phelps was in the Marines. Although there are pretty solid plot twists near the end of the story but apart from that the storry telling is not very engaging.

All in all if you think you have what it takes to be a great detective, keen observation, patience, cool head, this game is for you but you want to have some 40s open world fun you are better off with games like mafia and godfather
