Assassin's Creed Unity in 2023, is it good?

Assassin's Creed Unity in 2023 is it still good, YES! Now before you wonder was AC Unity EVER good? Let me explain, It is a historical action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released in November 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This set the stage for the next gen consoles, technically the first game to show the wonders of PlayStation 4. It did a number of great things...with a number of not so great things.

The game is set in Paris during the French Revolution, and players control Arno Victor Dorian, a member of the Assassins. The story follows Arno's journey to uncover the truth about his father's death and his connections with the Assassins. The story line of this game is just interesting, is it the best...nope...but it is good enough to make u feel attached and give a ff... freckles about the charecters.

One of the standout features of Assassin's Creed Unity is its stunning visuals and lighting. Like man....the interiors in this game are polished! The sunrays coming through the doors and windows reacting with the marble materials. The game takes full advantage of the that time next-generation consoles and PC, delivering breathtaking detailed environments and character models.

The city of Paris is brought to life with thousands of NPCs rendered in a single frame in incredible detail while being interactive using AI. With iconic landmarks and historical buildings accurately recreated you will forget about the 79 hours of game material that the game provides, I have no regrets is just strolling around revolutionary Paris and seeing NPCs popping out of nowhere. The character animations are also top-notch, with smooth and natural movement.

The gameplay in Assassin's Creed Unity is a bit different from it's previous installments, with a focus on stealth, combat, and exploration the game allows you to think and act like an Assassin.

Players can navigate through the city using the new and improved parkour system. This parkour system is fluid and the game design allows you to be as creative as you want while jumping around. One of the best features that the game provides is the change in the classic eagle vison, a difinig gameplay element of every Assassin's Creed game. This time this skill when activated allows you to "focus" on the sounds around you, trust me you will need it to find things and locate collectibles.

The best part about all of it is how this games utilizes the historical database entries, which no one bothers to read, well now u will because it helps in solving riddles and getting a new outfit.

It also makes you make your own approach for the mission. The charecter customisation provides skills and gears for each and every play style of your choice. This game uses the RPG elements brilliantly unlike the recent entries of the franchise. The combat system has been refined, and the addition of co-op missions adds a new element to the gameplay. It is probably the most fun part of the game where you can play with your friends in a multiplayer mode to complete missions. This is the best way of tackling multiplayer mode for Assassin's Creed in my opinion.

Now to talk about the elephant in the room, THE GLITCHHHEESSSSS. They have been reduced, like seriously there's no more disappearing faces. I have played both the updated and the initial version and the updated feels like heaven in comparison to the initial. Yes there are random NPCs popping out of walls, but there are no more game breaking glitches anymore. But I'll go easy on Ubisoft on this point because they showed the courage of pushing their limits with Assassin's Creed Unity, doing absolutely stunning things with the game design. I mean it is hard to manage loads of NPCs and thier interactions.

The game faces a lot of rendering issues though. Sometimes the textures won't refer until you're standing in to of the building. When perching from a viewpoint, all that you can see is a big long trail of cube boxes that magically start turning into buildings.

Overall, Assassin's Creed Unity is a solid entry in the series and a must-play for fans of the franchise. The stunning visuals and immersive gameplay make it a joy to play, and the historical setting adds depth to the story. While the game does have its fair share of bugs and technical issues, these are minor annoyances that do not detract from the overall experience. If you're a fan of action-adventure games and enjoy a good historical setting, then you should definitely give Assassin's Creed Unity a try.
