Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania Review
I just finished watching ant-man and the wasp quantumania, and though the movie was good, it gave us so much to talk about. Let's go through them one by one.
First and foremost, let's discuss the characters themselves. After the endgame events, the movie revolves around Scott, Hope, Cassie, Hank, and Janet. And let us not forget the great big bad Kang himself. The movie is fun, but it feels wayyyyyyy bigger than an ant-man film should feel. I would have loved to see the ghost story continued from Ant-Man and the Wasp. But it was fun to see Kang in action. Which is, unfortunately, a down for an Ant-Man movie itself. It focuses too much on setting up Kang, the conqueror, that the film feels like something other than a solo superhero movie.
I understand that Scott was Marvel's best shot if they wanted to set up a villain in the quantum realm. But it doesn't feel natural. It feels like Kang was forced into the movie. Them going into the quantum realm straight up and getting into Kang. It feels forced. And I wonder why all of the quantum realms looked like the Star Wars original trilogy but with better VFX. The beings, the creatures it, 's all very fascinating. However, the movie does suffer from the VFX problem. Wherein in many places, it looks patchy and out of business. This could have been because of the new "volume" technology (basically, green screens are replaced by massive screens that project the environment, Mandalorian and Dune are the few movies that used it). Anyway, the story again focused too much on Kang and the quantum realm that somewhere Ant-Man just became like any other character in the background, that is, until the final showdown. Johnathan (Thor's hammer) Majors does a nerve-racking job at portraying Kang, The Conqueror. I'm not gonna lie; he left me without nails by the movie's end.
The cinematography is minimal. Only a little to experiment with 95% of the movie being in a CGI environment. The problem with Kang's character is that we have yet to determine his specific powers. He has many tricks up his sleeves from what I saw (he has, trust me, even in the comics, the dude knows EVERYTHING about...... EVERYTHING). Maybe in the future, we'll see and get to know his powers better. The movie lacks some powerful scenes, but I don't see it as bad; it's just good to have. The best part about Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania is, sadly, the worst part about it....too much Kang. This feels like Thanos was the first to directly appear in The Avengers movie.
I would appreciate the suit design. It was great the wardrobe guy knew what to do with this movie. What's that? Why didn't I talk about the comedy? IT'S PAUL RUDD, OF COURSE, IT'S GREAT, what did you expect.
Well, I did manage to say all this without spoilers....at least, I hope so. So we'll discuss the ending and the post-credit scenes later in another piece of great content I write twice a year for nobody to read.
And yes MODOK again such a waste by Marvel that I FORGOT to even mention him.
